CAPACITY IS NOT CHARACTER
A person can be capable, resourced, and psychologically strong while having less capacity available at a particular time.
Guiding Clinical Idea
Not every struggle is menopause, but menopause may alter the capacity available for what was already there.

A Changing System
Neuroendocrine variability may occur alongside sleep disruption, pain, medical problems, caregiving, work demands, trauma activation, relationship stress, executive load, discrimination, or cumulative life stress.
The result is not necessarily a new disorder. Nor is every difficulty hormonal.
It may be useful to ask what has changed in the system and what the system is being asked to carry.

A Biopsychosocial Domino Effect
Transition + existing load → changing capacity → cascading effects
Those effects may appear in sleep, regulation, concentration, mood, anxiety, irritability, coping, relationships, work, body experience, trauma symptoms, or health behaviors.
What This Changes
A capacity lens shifts the question from “Why can't I handle this anymore?” toward “What is this body-brain-life system carrying now, and what support does it need?”
